How to Replace an Audi G28 Engine Speed Sensor

1. Engine Speed Sensor
The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.
The sensor serves as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can start spark and injectors according to the situation.
If this sensor fails the ECU will throw an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper timing chain. The code won't appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).
It's a bit tricky to test since there are various pins on the connector, and they all have different functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when the sensor is in full operation. I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), lost audi keys even when unplugged, still shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

3. Fuel Pump
